Dentures: A Fit for All Patients
If you are missing a large number of your teeth, you know how difficult it can be to eat, talk, and stay positive. Not only that, but when you are missing multiple teeth, you realize how essential they are in maintaining your appearance. If you have considered getting Dentures but have heard too many horror stories about slipping, irritating dentures, then you should know that the dentures of today are nothing like they used to be! You have options ranging from perfectly fit removable dentures to implant supported dentures that stay in place permanently. Dr. Ted Pinney has the technology and skill to give you a healthy, happy smile and return you to eating the foods you love!
Standard Dentures
Standard dentures are removable and come in either partial or full varieties. If you are missing some teeth but still have plenty of healthy teeth remaining, partial dentures are for you. Another advantage to wearing partial dentures is that they help protect your remaining teeth. Without neighboring teeth to hold them in place, your remaining natural teeth can shift and loosen over time. By supporting your remaining teeth with a partial denture, you’re investing in your long term health!
Full dentures are recommended when you have few to no remaining healthy teeth. Before taking an impression of your mouth, Dr. Pinney will extract any remaining teeth. The impression will ensure that your new dentures have the tightest fit possible, though some adjustment may need to be performed over time. As your jaw and gums heal, it is natural for bone to shift, resulting in a change in the shape of your gum line. We are able to adjust your dentures for the perfect fit, giving you a smile you can be confident in!
Implant Retained Dentures
If you have dentures and aren’t pleased with them, or have considered dentures but don’t want to deal with removing and cleaning them in the evening, then you should consider implant supported dentures.
Implant supported dentures are held in place by up to four dental implants. These implants are titanium screws which are placed in your jaw. They contain an internal thread which is used to screw your dentures in place. Once attached, your implant supported dentures act just like real teeth!
Not everyone is a good candidate for implant supported dentures. You need to have healthy bone structure to support the dental implants, which is why part of the process in determining your best treatment will be a thorough examination by Dr. Pinney. Once we have an understanding of your dental health, we will proceed with the treatment that is best for you!
